Introduction
The Hills Like White Elephants is a short story written by Ernest Hemingway an American novelist. The story is about a couple discussing an operation. As the story goes on you figure out the operation is an abortion. In this blog post I will respond to these questions. Does the girl in the story keep the baby? Does she stay in her relationship with the man? Also the choice to stay or leave a difficult situation. Does the girl in the story keep the baby? Does she stay in her relationship with the man? I believe the girl was never going to get rid of the child. If you pay close attention to her dialogue. The girl seems to be giving the man some sort of moral test. She asks him repeatedly “ will he still love her and and will things be alright between them”. Is she going to stay in a relationship with the man ? I feel as though I can not give a clear answer to the question. Their is something I might not be grasping about the story. I think the story would need a little more context for me to begin to answer. When have you made a important choice to stay in a relationship or leave a relationship -- OR -- stay or leave a difficult situation? The ending of senior year, I made the choice of ending friendships with people I considered family. These were friends I had all throughout high school so the decision was extremely difficult. One of my mentors told us “once you graduate high school you go from kids to just guys living with your mom.” I always kept this saying in the back of my mind because it was the truth. I just stop hanging around them and answering phone calls. I wanted more out of life. So smoking and partying was not my goal every night but it was theirs. I just could not handle trying to help people out who did not want more for themselves. They still have my number and I told them to call if they ever needed something. I will always wish them the best of luck in life they will always be my “ homies.”

I agree with you, I think it is kind of difficult to determine if the woman had actually kept the baby or not. Also, i think it is great how you saw that you wanted more to your life than partying all of the time. I think that is a smart choice and you will appreciate that choice for the rest of your life.

Wow, I can't believe how much I relate to this. After graduating high school I realized the partying aspect of my life needed to be left behind. It was hard for me to leave my old friends and not stay in old habits but age and school has help me grow as a person.

I relate to you so much with your response. I think a lot of people go through that when they end high school and you start to realize that what they want in life is not the same as what you want in life.
